Vertebroplasty
Vertebroplasty is a new, minimally invasive technique that helps alleviate
pain and improves mobility for people with fractured vertebrae caused by
osteoporosis and tumors.
Under x-ray guidance and using local anesthetic,
bone cement is injected into the vertebrae. When the cement hardens, it
helps to stabilize the bone and prevents the painful motion caused by the
bone fragments rubbing against each other.
Most people experience pain relief within 24 hours.
After the outpatient procedure, many people resume their normal daily
activities immediately. |
