Brian L. Burke, MD

Brian L. Burke, MD, is a radiologist at Imaging Specialists of Charleston, LLC. He joined the practice in 2013.

Prior to Imaging Specialists, Dr. Burke was a private practice radiologist at Colorado Imaging Associates (CIA), where he was featured on the cover of Denver’s 5280 2010 Top Doctors. He held various titles and committee/ board positions among the advanced medical imaging networks he served. Most notably, Dr. Burke was Clinical Director of Ultrasound at St. Anthony Hospitals and CIA; Clinical Director of Mammography at St. Anthony Hospitals and CIA; and Medical Director of Radiology at St. Anthony North.

He completed his fellowship in cross-sectional imaging at San Francisco General Hospital (UCSF); his residency in diagnostic radiology at the University of California San Francisco where he was Chief Resident; and his internship in internal medicine at the Kaiser Foundation Hospital also located in San Francisco.

Dr. Burke earned his Doctor of Medicine from the University of Kentucky College of Medicine in Lexington, KY, where he belonged to Alpha Omega Alpha and was awarded the College of Medicine Scholarship for Academic Excellence. He earned his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Duke University in Durham, NC.

Dr. Burke holds an American Board of Radiology Certification in Diagnostic Radiology and medical licenses to practice in South Carolina, North Carolina, and Virginia. He is a member of the American Roentgen Ray Society, the Radiological Society of North America, and the American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine.

Dr. Burke has always wanted to be a doctor like his father, who also was a radiologist, but didn’t decide on radiology until medical school. Dr Burke enjoys kiteboarding, skiing and rooting for his Duke Blue Devils. He enjoys spending time with his wife Karen, their two children, and three rescue dogs, Daisy, Fonzie, and Charlie. He was born a military brat in San Antonio, TX, but spent time growing up in Oregon where he became passionate about the environment. This nature lover also has climbed five 14,000-feet mountains in Colorado!
