Ryan Hirst, DO

Ryan J. Hirst, DO, is a diagnostic radiologist specializing in musculoskeletal imaging at Imaging Specialists of Charleston, LLC. He joined the practice in 2025 after completing his musculoskeletal radiology fellowship at Duke University Hospital.

Prior to fellowship, Dr. Hirst completed his diagnostic radiology residency at the Medical College of Georgia at Augusta University, where he served as chief resident from 2023 to 2024. He also completed a transitional year internship at Lehigh Valley Health Network in Allentown, PA.

Dr. Hirst earned his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine and a Master’s in Healthcare Services Administration from Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine in Erie, PA. He received his Bachelor of Science in biology and behavioral health from The Pennsylvania State University.

He has authored and co-authored multiple peer-reviewed publications and case reports in musculoskeletal and emergency radiology, with work featured in Radiology: Case Reports and the Journal of the Pennsylvania Osteopathic Medical Association. His research interests include multimodal pain management and complex musculoskeletal pathology.

Dr. Hirst is a member of Sigma Sigma Phi National Osteopathic Honors Society and has been recognized as VA Resident of the Year. He has also served on residency leadership committees and interview panels for diagnostic and interventional radiology programs.
